On October 15, 2025 the Sunnyvale School District Board of Education adopted Resolution No. 26-10 in support of Santa Clara County Measure A, a proposed five-year, 0.625% countywide sales tax measure on the November 4, 2025 ballot.
Measure A aims to preserve critical health, mental health, and social services for children, families, and communities across the county.
Santa Clara County provides essential health, mental health, and social programs that are vital to the health and wellbeing of Sunnyvale School District children, families, and staff. Currently, the County contributes approximately $526,000 to programs that strengthen school-based behavioral health supports and ensure access for our most vulnerable students.
“Our students’ success is directly tied to their access to affordable, high-quality health and mental health care,” said Bridget Watson, President of the Sunnyvale School District Board of Education. “Our support for Measure A reflects our commitment to ensuring that every child in our district has the health and stability they need to thrive in school and in life.”
Recent and anticipated federal funding cuts to Medi-Cal and other safety-net programs are expected to result in more than $1 billion in annual losses to Santa Clara County. Measure A offers a temporary, locally controlled solution to preserve access to critical services such as emergency medical care, behavioral health support, and family stability programs.
“Our schools are part of a broader ecosystem of care,” said Superintendent Gudiel R. Crosthwaite. “When community health and social systems are under-resourced, schools often shoulder the impact. Measure A ensures that children, families, and staff continue to receive the support they need so that students can focus on learning and educators can focus on teaching.”
The Sunnyvale School District’s Sunnyvale Promise—that every student will be known by name, strength, and need, and prepared to excel in high school and beyond—depends on partnerships that promote safety, stability, and access to essential care.
The District encourages staff, families, and community members to learn more about Measure A and to make their voices heard in the upcoming election.
